Personal photos/text taken in/out of Vietnam combat zone from perspective of copilot on USAF C-130 345th Tactical Airlift Crew. Not just about the war, but also about the people/places of the region during 1972. This is where I got my first Nikon film SLR which turned into lifelong passion albeit now Canon digital SLR. The photos are recent digital scans from old 35mm slides wasting away in hot/cold attic for 40 years. Extensive Photoshop editing has been used to make them somewhat presentable.

C-119 Flying Boxcar
Open back end of camouflaged C-119 “Flying Boxcar” cargo plane with familiar dual tail and squared fuselage … most likely at Tan Son Nhut in Saigon 1971. There also were two variations of AC-119’s developed as gunships that were heavily armed (and feared) … they used the call signs Shadow and Stinger. Ever present afternoon clouds are building as precursors to frequent thunderstorms over Vietnam. There also appears to be partial view of a Vietnamese twin engine C-123 on right side of photo behind the standing man
